Bespoke Yew Picture frame for international customer.

I was asked to make a similar picture frame to one on my shop page that was too small for my customers artwork.

My customer wanted the frame to be made out of Yew, with natural waney edged sides, and a little bark intact.

Yew has a vibrant red / orange colour with a lot of character in the grain. It's a rare and protected timber that has an interesting history, often found in church yards where the tree's are some of the oldest in the country.

The Yew I used for this bespoke picture frame was salvaged from a tree that unfortunately came down in the storm of 87’ it had been milled up and stored in a garage until a few years ago.

Finished with a clear wax to make the colours come alive, this quirky picture frame will be going all the way to America to its new home!
